WE ARE THE WORLD

Praised by the LA Weekly and highlighted by High Places in a Pitchfork interview for their "mega-high energy dance music with an amazing visual and performative live show," We Are The World have become one of the most unique and dynamic groups to come out of LA in recent years. Formed in the summer of 2008, the group rose from the ashes of the infamous roving dance party Fingered, and their pounding bass and thrilling live show have won the group a passionate hometown following who revel in WATW's choreographed concert performances. A recent European tour found WATW playing to packed crowds in London, Copenhagen, and Berlin, and comments like "What an awesome dance force - fucked me up for days thinking about them live" are common on YouTube videos of the group. WATW's debut album will be released in November on Manimal Vinyl in North America and Chicks on Speed Records in the rest of the world. Their single "Clay Stones" and its accompanying video, co-directed by the group and Alma Har'el (Beirut, Jack PeƱate) and shot in a fire-ravaged section of forest near Lake Arrowhead, will be released in September. "I feel that referring to them as a band is a slight and calling them artists fails to credit their powerful pop. If they combined the Whitney Biennial and Lollapalooza this would be the house band." - Dennis Hopper
